INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS DEPARTMENT
International Relations is an academic subject which studies relations among
its actors —especially the states which are accepted as the
primary actors— in the international system and with other
actors such as states, international organizations,
multinational corporations, international norms and
international society. The principal aims of International
Relations education are to help students gain necessary
knowledge and skills required in their future career life
through a framework of scholarly inquiry, and acquire
critical and analytical thinking and problem solving skills.
The undergraduate course structure in our department is organised to cater
for these aims. Thus, through a study of such main courses
as Theories of
International Relations,
International History,
International
Organizations,
International Law and
Foreign Policy
Analysis students
are enabled to acquire a solid ground on the history of
international system, the stages through which it has
evolved, its workings and its legal and economic framework.
A large array of departmental electives and free electives
along with must courses allow students to specialise in line
with their career expectations.
The department which is organised
around four main subfields —i.e. International Relations,
International History, International Economic Integrations,
and International Public Law— also offers two separate
Masters degrees one of which is in “International Relations”
and the other in “Regional Relations: European
Union-Mediterranean Studies”.
